My child utilizes assistive hearing technology. Are they still able to attend St. Martin?Of course! Here at St. Martin we believe the use of hearing technology is a personal decision. We have students who choose to use hearing aids and/or cochlear implants and others who prefer not to use any. Our classroom is a voice-off ASL immersive environment however, students have opportunities to use listening and spoken language with their hearing peers as well. Many parents experience misinformation from medical professionals discouraging them from allowing their child access to ASL in fear that this will hinder their spoken language development. This is a myth that has since been dispelled by researchers in the field. Our parents report that with the full access provided in our classroom, their children have improved in both ASL and spoken language development.

Do St. Martin student's have the opportunity to go on field trips?Yes! We love field trips and value the importance of exposing our students to as many hands on opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom as possible. We have brought in tons of interactive learning opportunities including hatching chicks, watching a butterfly life cycle, planing flowers, and having guest speakers come in to present on special topics. We also love to go out into the community and explore. We have been to the the pumpkin patch, the airport, a rabbit rescue, museums, and more! Our small class size and excellent student teacher ratio allow us to take advantage of these special chances to grow and learn!
